Introduction to philosophical debates on mechanistic, representational and computational explanation

We have prepared an introductory handout for our collaborators, which introduces the main topics of our project - the philosophical issues connected with scientific explanation and especially with mechanistic, representational and computational explanation. The handout also clarifies how some potentially confusing terms are used in the philosophical literature. We hope that this will contribute to interdisciplinary understanding between us philosophers and our collaborators from the empirical sciences.
